Frequently asked questions

What documents do I need to clear cargo at Mombasa?
For most shipments: bill of lading or airway bill, commercial invoice, packing list and your KRA PIN. Some goods — food, cosmetics, electronics — may need extra permits such as KEBS or Pharmacy & Poisons Board approvals. We check your cargo list and tell you upfront.
What is the difference between FCL and LCL?
FCL (full container load) means your goods fill a whole 20ft or 40ft container. LCL (less than container load) means your cargo shares a container with other customers' goods and you pay only for your volume. LCL is the cheapest way to ship a few cartons; FCL is better value in volume.
How long does shipping to Kenya take?
Air freight typically lands within days. Sea freight varies by origin — Dubai and India are quicker, China takes a few weeks, and Europe or the US longer. We confirm the expected sailing and arrival window when we quote.
How long does customs clearance take?
It depends on the cargo and whether the entry is selected for verification. We lodge entries promptly and tell you early if anything is holding the file — we never promise fixed clearance days because the port decides.
How is import duty on cars calculated?
KRA assesses duty from the vehicle's customs value, age and engine size under the current tax schedule. Rather than quote figures that may be out of date, we give you a realistic landed-cost estimate for the exact unit before you buy.
Can you clear a car I already bought abroad?
Yes — that is our vehicle clearing service. Send the bill of lading, commercial invoice, export certificate and your KRA PIN, and we handle the port side.
How do I track my cargo?
Every shipment has a bill of lading or container number. Enter it on the shipping line's tracking page — our Track Your Cargo page links to the major lines and explains what to look for.
What can I not ship?
Prohibited and restricted items — including narcotics, weapons, counterfeit goods and certain chemicals — cannot be shipped. Sensitive goods such as batteries, liquids and cosmetics need advance notice. Tell us what you have and we will advise before you book.
Is my cargo insured?
Marine insurance is optional but recommended, especially for high-value goods. Ask us to include it in your quote.
Which towns do you deliver to?
Anywhere in Kenya. Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu and Malindi are regular routes from Mombasa, and we quote for anywhere else.
How do car hire bookings work?
Choose a vehicle, share your dates and pick-up point (including airport arrivals), and we confirm the full rate in writing. Some cars are chauffeur-only; self-drive needs a valid licence, ID and a refundable deposit.
How do I pay?
Quotes are itemised and agreed before work starts. We accept M-Pesa and bank transfer — details are confirmed on your invoice.
