Vehicle Import
Import your car directly from Japan, Thailand and other markets — we handle it end to end.
What this service covers
Buying direct from Japan or Thailand usually gets you a better car for the money than buying locally — if someone trustworthy handles the process. Afriton sources the vehicle, arranges inspection, ships it to Mombasa, clears it with KRA and delivers it ready for registration. You get one contact from selection to number plates.
Who it's for
- Buyers who want a specific model, grade or colour
- First-time importers who want the risk managed for them
- Dealers importing stock regularly
- Diaspora customers buying for family in Kenya

Questions
Vehicle Import — FAQs
How is import duty calculated?
KRA assesses duty from the vehicle's customs value, age and specifications under the current tax schedule. We give you a realistic landed-cost estimate for the exact unit before you buy, rather than quoting figures that may be out of date.
How old can an imported car be?
Kenya restricts imports to vehicles within the allowed age limit and to right-hand drive. We only source units that qualify, so your car can actually be registered.
Can I import a car I already bought myself?
Yes — see our vehicle clearing service. If you have already purchased a vehicle abroad, we take over at the port.
